Into Film - The Breadwinner (KS3 Trip)

11th October 2018
On Thursday 11th October, Years 7 and 8 took a trip to The Maltings in Berwick as part of the 'Into Film Festival,' to watch an animated film, adapted from a KS3 novel on war - The Breadwinner. The story is set in Afghanistan and is about a young girl who disguises herself as a boy to provide for her family, after her father is unjustly arrested. The film highlighted themes surrounding Middle Eastern countries, crime and punishment, life and death, growing up, community, poverty, food and health, and family & friendship. Throughout, the importance of stories and storytelling prevailed. This was a compelling morning for all of those who attended, further enhanced by a talk from animator and film-maker, Robin Webb.
