Where the Rivers Meet

Glendale Middle School and the Till Arts Project 'Where the Rivers Meet' were very happy to work in collaboration this month, for three days, when naturalist, Geoff Sample, Jose Mountford, (photographic artist) and Shaun Hackett, (Northumberland Parks Ranger) delivered some incredibly interesting workshops around the Wooler and Till Valley area. Pupils took part in activities, such as: recording wildlife soundscapes; photography in Wooler common; getting close up to invertebrates and carrying out oral history interviews with local shop owners in Wooler Town Centre, which gave the children a fascinating insight into the changes local business people have seen since the introduction of supermarkets.

The Year 6 pupils were incredibly privileged to share the love and knowledge of the school's area with such amazing visitors, as a result of which, they improved and produced some of their own personal writing and reports. It was a true and multi-varied artistic celebration of the River Till and the surrounding area.
