York - Day 1

Year 6 visit to York - Day 1

Lovely first day of our visit to York - had some fun getting onto the train as the buffet trolley was right in the middle our coach so we had to wait at the ends until it had moved through before we could take our seats. Smashing views of the beautiful Northumberland coast as we travelled south towards Newcastle. Everyone off safely when we arrived in York - Tucker almost managed to leave his bag on the train by zipping his brightly coloured ribbon inside the handle of his bag! Short walk from the train station in York to our hotel where we all unpacked before heading out into the city. York sunny and busy as we walked to the minster and then up around the city walls. Children increasingly able to orientate themselves and navigate around the city centre. Stopped to do some sketching of the abbey ruins in the Castle Museum Gardens and watched a film being made – the children gave the actors a spontaneous round of applause when they had finished! Before heading back to the hotel we popped to the cinema to check our booking to see Spiderman tomorrow evening. Back at the hotel everyone dressed smartly to enjoy dinner together and then we headed back out to a local park down by the river for a game of rounders. Back to the hotel to get ready for bed watching a beautiful sunset across the city before lights out 10am. A great first day.
