York - Day 3

York - Day 3

Another glorious morning here in York. We spent the day at the National Railway Museum exploring the fascinating engineering of trains past, present and future. The museum explainers led two workshops for us where we learnt all about how the forces of pressure are used in train tunnels and how technology has increased the speed of train travel from 30mph in Rocket to an estimated 700mph in the futuristic hyperloop trains. We also got to see the huge train turntable in action in the main hall. After a very full day we headed back to the hotel to enjoy our evening meal before walking across the city and down to the river Ouse for an evening river cruise. It was a beautiful evening and our tour guide taught us a lot about the river and the history of York. Excited to be heading to the Jorvik Centre tomorrow.
