At Glendale Middle School we operate a first day absence reporting system. If your child is going to be absent from school, please contact the school before 9:00 am to let us know the reason why. You can report an absence by telephone or email: Telephone 01668 281470 or email We also ask that you inform school each subsequent day that your child is absent from school until their return. 
Your child's absence is a safeguarding issue until we have confirmation of the reason for their absence.
Attendance is monitored in school and also by the Local Authority. Good attendance is classed as 96% over the school year. If your child's attendance falls below this figure, you may be contacted by an Education Welfare Officer employed by Northumberland County Council.
We celebrate 100% attendances and certificates are awarded each term and at the end of the academic year.
