Year 5 Hawkhirst 2018

5th November 2018
On Monday 5th - Wednesday 7th November, 27 pupils in  Year 5 attended Hawkhirst: a scout adventurer site, which is set by the beautiful Kielder forest and reservoir. The pupils took part in bell boats, zip wire, abseiling, climbing, obstacle course, night hiking, bushcraft and campfire songs. The pupils overcame so many challenges and showed such determination - it was inspiring. Their behaviour was fantastic and they were a credit to Glendale Middle School. Here are some extracts of their reviews:

'The bell boats were amazing. It was great to see everyone working together and I loved jumping in the water at the end.' Reuben P.

'When I came home, I barely touched my dinner because I was so full from their lunch!' Tallulah C

'We rowed across Europe's largest man-made reservoir.' Jess Y

'When we did the zip wire, I was really scared, but in the end I did it twice!' Poppy D

'I really liked all the activities at Hawkhirst. My favourite one was the climbing wall, even though my helmet fell off. My favourite instructor was Annie, because she was funny and kind and helpful. The other instructors were Kevin, Daniel and Scott. We had lots of challenges; one was carrying a cup of water around an obstacle course.' Chloe F
